About Plankwell
Since 2008.
Eighteen years, three people and one rule: leave every floor better than we found it.
First job — Sellwood, 2008
Daniel, founder
Our first loft — Pearl District
The founder
How one bedroom became a business.
Daniel trained as a cabinet-maker before he ever knelt on a floor. In 2008 a neighbour in Sellwood asked him to replace a single bedroom of tired fir. He borrowed a nailer, took three days over it, and got a call a year later for the rest of the house.
The work grew the way good trades do: by word of mouth, one room at a time. Maya joined in 2014 to run sanding and finishing, Theo in 2019 for installs and stairs.
Plankwell has never grown past one crew. That is a choice. It keeps Daniel in every room, every quote honest, and every finish signed off by the person who laid it.
